Train Service Disruption: Interlaken – Lauterbrunnen – What you need to know

Starting August 22, 2025, at around 13:10, the Bernese Oberland Railway’s Line R62 between Zweilütschinen and Lauterbrunnen has been interrupted, most likely due to recent heavy rains.

There is an unstable slope beneath the parking garage bridge at the entrance to Lauterbrunnen station; this section of the route will be closed. Passengers will be transported by replacement buses. (according to this report)

  • Affected route: R62 between Zweilütschinen and Lauterbrunnen
  • Interim solution: Replacement bus services operate between Zweilütschinen and Lauterbrunnen. Travelers heading to Kleine Scheidegg or the Jungfraujoch are advised to reroute via Grindelwald / Grindelwald Terminal

Grindelwald Line is OK

The issue with the trains lies upstream from the junction to Grindelwald, so avoid Lauterbrunnen unless you have to go there. There are regular buses, so getting there is not an issue; it just might take longer.

PLEASE BE FLEXIBLE AND PATIENT. The SBB train company is doing its best to bring buses online at short notice to solve the issue.
