Blowing Away Records: How Many Alpine Horns Can Play At The Same Time?

I was hiking in Beckenreid on the weekend and I noticed this crazy sign!

This year, an astoundingly large group of Alpine Horn players is going to attempt to break the world record set in Switzerland in 2013.

So far, over 1,000 players have registered for the new record, which will be attempted on Klewenalp above Beckenreid on Lake Lucerne on August 31st, 2024.

It will be attempted at the Klewenalp Festival (in German only), and you can witness the spectacle there!

The Previous Record

In 2013, a group of Swiss Alpine Horn players broke the world record of 366 simultaneous players!

They chose to carry out this feat at one of the most stunning locations in Switzerland – the Gornergrat above Zermatt!

Exactly 508 players can be seen below playing the Alpine Horn which reverberates throughout the valley bouncing off the rocks walls and the stunning Gorner Glacier below.

All with the Matterhorn in the distance! Hard to beat
