The Best Hotels In Gstaad (From Budget To Luxury)

best hotels gstaad

Gstaad is quite a luxurious town situated at 1,050 meters (3,445 feet) above sea level in the beautiful Swiss Alps and is world renowned for its epic skiing, winter sports, and amazing hiking trails that are accessible in the summer.

You might not know this, but Gstaad is almost exactly halfway between Geneva and Zurich in the canton of Bern in southwestern Switzerland, which makes it rather popular and might account for it having some of the most expensive properties in the country.

It is a stunning place to visit as there are lots of great things to do in Gstaad in both the summer and winter, plus the surrounding alpine landscapes are simply breathtaking. Not only that, but it exhibits quite a lovely architectural style with modern buildings blending seamlessly into alpine chalets.

As you can see, there are more than enough reasons to visit Gstaad. The next question is which of the Gstaad hotels is going to suit you best? That is what we are here to find out.

Join me as I review some of the best hotels in Gstaad ranging from cheap budget options to luxurious all-inclusive 5-star Gstaad hotels.

The Geniesserhotel Le Grand Chalet is one of the top hotels in Gstaad in my eyes as it has everything from great views to alpine-style and an amazing restaurant.

This is one of the luxury hotels in Gstaad with 4 stars and it is located a short walk outside of the city center in very peaceful surroundings. Sitting on a hill above Gstaad, it has amazing views over the town and of the surrounding mountains.

The hotel is decorated in an elegant Swiss alpine style and this goes all the way to the alpine-style rooms. Every room has a balcony where you can gaze into the mountains along with excellent amenities including free WiFi, a private bathroom, and more.

Something you simply can not miss is dining at the Geniesserhotel Le Grand Chalet hotel’s award-winning gourmet restaurant that overlooks the mountains. You should also take advantage of the wellness area’s sauna, steam bath, and terrace as well as the outdoor swimming pool.

Le Grand Bellevue

One of the best luxury hotels in Gstaad to stay at is without doubt the Le Grand Bellevue. This is a luxurious 5-star hotel that has it all and with prices of around $400+ a night, I would certainly hope so.

The Le Grand Bellevue is in the heart of Gstaad inside park Gstaad which is a great location as everything is within walking distance and it comes with great mountain views too.

The hotel is also home to a Michelin-starred restaurant, Leonard’s. Stylish Leonard’s restaurant, awarded 16 Gault and Millau points as well as a Michelin star is somewhere you simply have to have dinner, even if you don’t stay at this hotel. It is fine dining like you have never experienced before.

The incredible facilities do not end there either. You can also hang out at one of the two trendy bars, and enjoy the huge 3000 sq. meter wellness area where a range of spa treatments are available as well as an indoor pool, a sauna, a steam bath, and a fitness center.

The rooms are all spectacularly decorated in a Soho House style, are super spacious, and come with all the amenities you would expect, however, only some have mountain views.

If you are looking for a luxurious stay in Gstaad, the Le Grand Bellevue is hard to beat.

The Alpina Gstaad

The Alpina Gstaad

The Alpina Gstaad is another of the great 5-star luxury hotels in Gstaad where nothing is too much trouble and pretty much anything needed will be taken care of.

All of the spacious rooms, suites, and luxury chalets available at this lovely hotel have their own balconies overlooking the Alps, along with marble bathrooms, and modern tasteful decor. If you book a suite, ask for one with an open fireplace to bring the romance out of your stay.

There are three excellent restaurants on-site, each catering to different tastes. You can choose from Swiss Stubli, Japanese, or fine dining depending on your mood.

You’ll also find two bars to have a refreshing drink in, a cigar lounge, plus a wellness area with an indoor pool, outdoor pool, sauna, steam bath, a fitness center, plus lots of spa treatments you can book.

It doesn’t end there, you can drop your children at the kid’s club, watch a movie in the private cinema, and use the concierge/room service to have all your needs catered to.

Sitting on a hill on private grounds just above Gstaad, the location is hard to beat too. It just might be the best of the top luxury hotels in Gstaad.

Gstaad Palace

The Gstaad Palace is another of the great 5-star luxury hotels in Gstaad and it is a great place to stay, especially if you love great food, cocktails, and a fun party.

This hotel has five restaurants to choose from that covers a range of cuisines from gourmet to sushi. After a delicious meal, head to one of the four bars for a cocktail before taking things to the dance floor at the hotel’s own nightclub – how awesome is that!

All the rooms at this hotel are individually decorated, not one is the same as the next, and they are furnished with the utmost luxury. You can also book a suite, all of which have a separate living room and a fireplace.

Every room and suite also has a balcony overlooking the mountains, and they should consider that staying here is certainly not cheap.

After a night out in the hotel, you can rejuvenate at the full-service spa. Choose your treatments from the menu which includes massages, facials, body treatments, and more. There is also an indoor pool, outdoor pool, a sauna, a steam bath, and a fitness center.

Hotel Olden

Hotel Olden is a traditional boutique hotel with 4 stars that is in the heart of Gstaad town which makes it perfect to explore all things Gstaad has to offer. Luckily, it is also in a car-free pedestrianized zone so it is nice and quiet all of the time.

While it doesn’t have all the incredible things the luxury hotels have, this place still does a great job of ensuring you have a wonderful stay in Gstaad.

There is a lovely restaurant where you can taste some delicious traditional Swiss dishes and it also serves up great international food too. It also has a bar as well as a sauna, steam bath, and a range of other spa treatments are on offer too.

There are both rooms and suites available which are all decorated uniquely from one another, and their taste is excellent. Sadly, not all rooms come with a balcony and mountain views so be sure to request this if it is what you want.

In all honesty, this hotel is all about its amazing location as it is close to the bars, restaurants, shops, and nightclubs of Gstaad and is super easy to get to the ski resort from too.

Hotel Arc-en-ciel Gstaad

Hotel Arc-en-ciel Gstaad

The Hotel Arc-en-ciel Gstaad is a more affordable 4-star hotel in Gstaad that has one of the best locations in my eyes.

It is on the outskirts of the town, so everything is within walking distance and it is also right next to the Eggli cable car station which makes getting up and down the mountains to ski and hike about as easy as it gets.

The hotel has a warm traditional chalet-style feel to it and you will notice this in the rooms also. All the rooms are decorated nicely and are very cozy, plus come with the amenities you would expect.

You will find an onsite restaurant with a broad menu that includes Swiss delicacies and international dishes too. There is also a bar to have a nice drink at, a sauna and steam bath, and you can order spa treatments too.

Park Gstaad

Park Gstaad

One of the great luxury hotels in Gstaad to stay at is Park Gstaad as, like all the other luxury hotels in Gstaad, it has pretty much everything you could ask for.

Its location in the heart of Gstaad is even amazing as it is somehow surrounded by lush greenery and mountains while being within walking distance to most places. It is also super easy to access the ski resort and slopes from here.

You can choose to book a room, suite, or the famous “My Gstaad Chalet” suite while staying here. All the suites have mountain views that you can enjoy from a balcony while only some of the more expensive rooms come with these.

There are 4 restaurants onsite that cover Japanese, gourmet, Swiss, and other cuisines and there are two fun bars where you can hang out and meet other guests.

During the day, relax in the indoor or outdoor pool, have a sauna or a steam bath, or perhaps the menu of spa treatments will be more to your taste.

Staying at this hotel will be quite an experience as I am sure you can imagine, but it is not cheap or all-inclusive.

Ermitage Wellness & Spa Hotel

Ermitage Wellness & Spa Hotel

The Ermitage Wellness & Spa Hotel is actually not in Gstaad, it is in the nearby village of Schönried which is above Gstaad.

The location is super peaceful and ideal for those who want to be away from the busy streets of Gstaad, and the views from there of the mountains are pretty incredible.

This is a 5-star luxury hotel that has maintained tradition throughout when it comes to decor. All the rooms have a lovely alpine vibe to them and come with a balcony overlooking the Alps.

The chefs at the hotel restaurant are masters of fine Swiss cuisine and you can even book an almost all-inclusive (half board) package that comes with breakfast, lunch, cake, and coffee in the afternoon and a 5-course dinner menu.

Being a wellness hotel, the spa is pretty incredible and comes with everything from saunas to multiple hot tubs, multiple indoor and outdoor swimming pools too, a tepidarium, and a load of spa treatments too.

Hôtel de Rougemont & Spa

The Hôtel de Rougemont & Spa is also located outside of Gstaad in the village of Rougemont and is ideal if you are looking for a quiet stay with great access to the ski slopes.

The Videmanette Ski Lift is literally a short 5-minute shuttle ride away which makes getting up into the mountains very quick and easy.

This is another luxurious 5-star hotel that has a traditional alpine style to it that is featured everywhere from the traditional Swiss restaurant to the rooms.

Being a spa it also has a range of treatments available along with an indoor pool for you to swim in whenever the mood takes you.

All the rooms have a warm and cozy feel to them, feature world-class amenities, and some have a balcony with a mountain view.

HUUS Gstaad

HUUS Gstaad

HUUS Gstaad sits in the little town of Sarnen just 5 minutes from Gstaad and is a great budget option compared to some of the super luxurious hotels we have looked at so far.

The views from this hotel are excellent as it overlooks the Bernese Alps so be sure to book one of the rooms with a balcony and mountain view during your stay, it is worth it.

The hotel and its rooms have a rustic chalet style to them with a warm and comfy vibe you can just nestle into.

It also comes with excellent facilities including a bar, restaurant, indoor pool, spar with treatments, as well as a concierge and room service.

Ultima Gstaad

Ultima Gstaad

Ultima Gstaad is a super duper luxury boutique hotel in Gstaad and it might be one of the most expensive we have looked at so far.

Sitting just on the outskirts of Gstaad it has just 11 suites in total with no “normal rooms” available whatsoever. The suites are chic-yet-lavish and come with incredible views of the Alps from their private balconies or terraces. They are the lap of luxury to stay in, to say the least.

There is also an onsite restaurant serving delicious cuisines and a huge spa with a huge range of treatments for you to choose from.

Sporthotel Victoria

Your best budget option in Gstaad is staying at the Sporthotel Victoria in the heart of the city. This is a 3-star hotel with super comfortable rooms, some of which have views of the mountains, and it has all you need for a comfortable stay.

You can dine at the hotel restaurant that serves Swiss and international cuisine or relax in the sauna and or steam bath after a long day.

Its location is excellent as everything is within walking distance from ski lifts to restaurants, bars, and shops.
