If you are not used to the mountains, or have never been to Switzerland, you may be wondering what to wear.
I have a complete packing list you should check out here, but needless to say, you need LAYERS of clothing to keep you warm and flexible during any season in Switzerland.
If you are coming in summer, you won’t need ALL the warm layers. But at least
- a waterproof layer and one warmer layer
If you are coming in the shoulder seasons (May/June or Oct/Nov) then it can get cold, especially in the mountains, so add
- at least one mid-layer like a down/puffy packet or thick sweater
In winter, you will need even more, potentially thermals and more
But when we are talking about warmer/waterproof layers, here are some of the best options!
1. Lightweight Waterproof Jacket

The great all-rounder for summer and spring. I carry one of these every time I am in the mountains. With the Patagonia being my favorite!
