Finding the luggage lockers in Zurich main station can be a little confusing if you are not a local because they are on an “in-between” floor under the station called the Mezzanine. The trick to finding them is to take the escalators or stairs in the middle of the main hall that are closest to the train lines or furthest from the train lines (see image below). If you accidentally take the longer escalator down to the shops, just walk back a little and you will see the smaller ones right behind you.

Luggage Locker Payment Options

What’s great about the new SBB lockers in Zurich is the variety of payment options they accommodate: coins, debit/credit cards, mobile payments, and even the local Twint system.

Also, their lockers are quite advanced – instead of an old-school key, you receive a QR code on a small piece of paper. You have to keep that with you and use it to open them later. Remember to keep it somewhere secure though! If it gets lost, you’ll be responsible for the replacement cost.

Each section has a payment module in the middle which you can use to pay for a locker in that row. Go to the screen first before closing a locker as you have to do it all in a specific order.

Left Luggage Service

Zurich HB has a left luggage storage service on the Landes Museum side of the building. The easiest way to find it is to walk to Platform 18 then turn right towards the river, walking along the outside of the building where the taxis are. You should be able to see the Swiss Museum on the opposite side of the road.

If that is not the most convenient place for you to store your luggage, check out Bounce as they have a lot more locations and options throughout Zurich.

    • Weekends: 8.30 am – 7 pm

Luggage Storage at Zurich Hotels

Have you thought about inquiring with your hotel about their luggage storage facilities? Many hotels offer this service at no cost until it’s time for you to leave Zurich. The one thing to remember is, you’ll need a staff member at the reception when it’s time to retrieve your bags. So, if your plans include starting your day really early or arriving back quite late, opting for a locker at the train station might be an easier option.
