Switzerland is an excellent choice for any romantic getaway as it is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. And picking from the huge range of hotels can be a challenge!
Between skiing in the mountains, going for lantern-lit walks at night, hiking in the Swiss Alps, star gazing from mountain tops, fine dining along Lake Geneva, and more, romance is easy to find in Switzerland.
There is no better way to ensure some romance on holiday than staying at a romantic hotel. Luckily, there are lots of romantic hotels in Switzerland to choose from but picking the best hotel isn’t so easy.

Mont Cervin Palace
One of the top luxury hotels in the stunning town of Zermatt and one of the best romantic hotels in the area too, Mont Cervin Palace offers active couples everything they could ask for.
This is a 5-star hotel with one of the best views in the Swiss alps, the Matterhorn, Switzerland’s most iconic peak. For couples who love nature or skiing, this is one of the romantic hotels you should take a closer look at.
Ski or hike in the most beautiful part of Switzerland before heading back to the hotel for a romantic Finnish sauna or steam bath or a dip in the outdoor pool, indoor pool, or hot tub.
You can also take to the spa and enjoy a couples massage as well as lots of other treatments. Then onto one of the two onsite fine dining restaurants for dinner followed by delicious wines and great music at the bar.
Romantik Hotel Schweizerhof
One of my favorite Swiss romantic hotels is the Romantik Hotel Schweizerhof. This is a luxury hotel, which always helps with romance, but it is the fairytale setting along with the history of the hotel that really brings it together.
Set in Grindelwald in the Bernese Alps it is surrounded by the Flims Waldhaus forest and stunning snow-capped mountains.
The mountain views are available from almost every room and being located in the happening town of Grindelwald, there are plenty of great restaurants and bars to explore as a couple and have a little fun.
The hotel building is old school and beautiful having been in business for more than 100 years. The stylishly furnished rooms breathe romance as do all the activities available.
You can spend time in the sauna, indoor pool, or steam bath, or hike in the mountains during the summer and ski in the winter.
A really romantic activity is taking a picnic to the beautiful Lake Cauma and having a swim along with a glass of champagne on its shores.
Romantik Seehotel Sonne
A hotel draped in history and style that has its own art gallery and sits on the shores of Lake Zurich, if this hotel doesn’t scream romance, I’m not sure what does.
The Romantik Seehotel Sonne is one of the best romantic hotels if you are flying in for a quick weekend of romance. You can fly into Zurich and then get a private boat transfer across the lake with its reaching views right to the hotel dock. This is arriving in style!
The hotel dates back to 1641 and offers 4-star luxury. The rooms are romantically decorated with magical views across the lake. As you walk around the hotel you’ll see more than 80 pieces of art, and there is plenty to do.
You can take paddle boards out for free, hang out in the beer garden, swim in the lake, sunbathe on the shore, and enjoy the two superb onsite restaurants. To top it all off, sit back and relax in the wellness center before catching the sun setting over the water of Lake Zurich.
Maiensässhotel Guarda Val
Remote romantic hotels are the best in my experience as they give you the space to feel like it is just you and your loved one experiencing the magic of your vacation.
The Maiensässhotel Guarda Val does just that as it is located in a remote location in the heart of the Alps in eastern Switzerland.
The hotel’s design is all about romance too. Spread over 11 different buildings that date back centuries and scream a classy farm style, you will feel like you have stepped back in time.
The rooms are full of earthy tones and textures. You can go for a romantic sauna in a log cabin, chill in the relaxation pool, and experience some romantic fine dining at the awesome onsite restaurant.
You get to do all of this with incredible mountain scenery surrounding you. Fill your days with hikes and bike rides around the area in summer and with some skiing in winter, before going back for a couples massage.
Fairmont Le Montreux Palace
One of the romantic hotels that really does have it all is the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace. By having it all, I mean that it is one of the few romantic hotels that are in a bustling city and has incredible access and views of nature.
The hotel is located in central Montreaux and sits right on the shores of Lake Geneva. Be sure to book a room with a lake view so you can wake up in the clear blue waters with the Alps in the background, it is true romance!
You will love exploring Montreux with your partner, especially during Christmas or when the Montreux Jazz Festival is on. There are plenty of romantic restaurants, fun bars, and historical sights to see all with magical views across the lake.
The hotel also offers great dining with fresh vegetables from its organic garden and lake views at one of its restaurants. The other specializes in Swiss cuisine, and you can hang out at the awesome Harry’s New York Bar with live music.
Burgenstock Resort
One of the top romantic hotels in Switzerland has to be the Burgenstock Resort on the shores of the beautiful Lake Lucerne.
The Burgenstock Resort sits on a hill above Lake Lucerne but is right on the shores at the same time giving you the best views imaginable of the lake and mountains.

The resort dates back to the 1800s and was recently renovated in 2008. You will find it provides the highest form of luxury to the point that politicians, actors, and businessmen choose this hotel first.
Being a resort, it has four hotels to choose from, private residences, 12 restaurants and bars, spas, and more. It is a wonderland on the shores of Lake Lucerne. And, there is even free private parking. Although most people will make use of the valet service I am sure.
I would recommend staying in the Palace Hotel of the hotel for the most romantic getaways in Switzerland. It is designed with honeymoons in mind, so you could say that it is one of the best honeymoon hotels in Switzerland.
Le Crans Hotel and Spa
One of the top romantic getaways in the Alps is the stunning Le Crans Hotel and Spa. What I love about this hotel is that it is perched on the edge of a ski resort giving you a sense of remoteness while being connected to a stunning Valais ski resort.
This is also a small boutique hotel which adds some romance in my eyes. With only 15 apartments and suites to stay in, you and your partner will feel pretty special staying here.
The views are something else as they stretch across the forests and peaks of the Valais region and you can see Mont Blanc too. Start your morning by jumping into the heated outdoor pool, even in winter, and enjoy a coffee after staring across the mountains. There are so many nearby hiking trails, that you won’t run out of things to do in summer either.
The decor is all chalet-style with a large focus on wood, stone, and fire – a great romantic combination. Access to the mountains in summer and winter is unparalleled and between the awesome spa and hot tub, and incredible onsite restaurant, you will be in heaven.
Lausanne Palace Hotel
Sitting in the center of Lausanne in the middle of the city, the Lausanne Palace Hotel wouldn’t be my first choice of romantic hotels from a look on Google Maps, but don’t let that put you off.
Romance can be found in the center of Lausanne with ease, especially if you are staying at Lausanne Palace. This is a hotel of luxury and has been since 1915. It was Coco Chanel’s choice often, and that is saying something.
The hotel is literally drenched in history, the rooms are magnificent, and the facilities are top-of-the-line. The onsite restaurants are delicious, the bar is classy, and the spa is awesome.
Spend your days exploring the city and enjoying Lake Geneva before coming back to the hotel to relax and rejuvenate in the saunas, pools, hammams, and more. Then, it’s up to you, to go out to some of the incredible restaurants on offer in Lausanne, dance at the class bars, or enjoy the comfort of your amazing room.
The Dolder Grand
If you are looking for one of the top romantic hotels that combines nature with Switzerland’s most major city, Zurich, then check out The Dolder Grand.
This hotel sits on the borders of Zurich in its own little haven of paradise. Gaze across the forests and Lake Zurich while also looking down on the city of Zurich at the same time. This place has it all.
The hotel looks like a castle and has been in the business of providing romantic luxury since 1899 and it is excellent at it. Arriving feels like being in a fairytale and once you explore the grounds, the spa, and the pools, and book some awesome spa therapies, you will feel right at home.
Spend your days hiking in the mountains around the hotel, take a private cruise across the lake, and hit up some of Zurich’s top restaurants and bars which are a short taxi ride away.
This is the perfect romantic spot for a quick 2-night weekend escape but it doesn’t come cheap.
Hotel Bellevue Palace
Based in Bern, Switzerland’s capital is Hotel Bellevue Palace, the most luxurious hotel in the city. It has been the choice of people like Queen Elizabeth so you will be walking along the same halls as royalty.
The hotel has been running since 1913 and it is a palace that adds a swathe of romance to every arrival. Also being in the center of Bern means a romantic city break is your best option when staying here.
The rooms are out of this world, as you would expect but the best parts of the hotel lie in the restaurant and bar. The Bellevue Bar is world-renowned and the Vue restaurant serves up culinary delights in a stunningly romantic atmosphere.
These are the places where the heads of the world have come together to make plans, make deals, and create the world we live in. It is a living history!
The facilities are amazing too and don’t be scared to ask, the staff here are incredible and pretty much anything will never be too much trouble.
Carlton Hotel St. Moritz
As far as the location of romantic hotels goes, the Carlton Hotel St Moritz is a tough one to beat. Sitting in the ski town of St Moritz it overlooks Lake St. Moritz and the Alps, you couldn’t ask for a better view from your room.
This hotel also has a quaint charm to it, plus being the smallest hotel in the area, it is very personal and has a lovely romantic setting to it.
Access to hiking and snow sports is a given, the 2 Michelin star restaurant onsite will blow your mind and there is a 24-hour limo service that will take you around town. You couldn’t ask for much more, but it’s got it, of course.
The spa is excellent, the rooms are gorgeous and the suites are even better. If romance doesn’t blossom here, I’m not sure where it will!
Kurhaus Bergün
Kurhaus Bergün is another of the great romantic hotels available in Switzerland. It is packed full of history and charm, and the building features an Art Nouveau architectural style that dates back to 1906.
If you’re a couple that loves aesthetics, then this is a hotel for you. As you move from one part of the hotel to another you will literally move through time as each part has been carefully restored to take you on a journey.
You can choose to stay in a room or an apartment at this hotel with views of the surrounding Alps. Skiing is available in the winter, with fantastic hikes in the summer, and lots more.
