Lauterbrunnen Views To Die For (Many Easy To Reach)

If you are heading to the Lauterbrunnen Valley and want to take home the best images, or even better memories, then this is the post for you.

Below are some of the best views in the Lauterbrunnen Valley and how to find them. All from my experience visiting the valley and various attractions many times over the years!

Staubbach Falls

One of the highlights of any visit to Lauterbrunnen is the magnificent Staubbach Falls. You can get up close and personal with them or admire them from afar.

But one thing is for certain: you will want some epic shots of the valley and the waterfalls while you are in town.

In Lauterbrunnen

Some of the easiest viewpoints to reach are right in Lauterbrunnen itself. Here are some of my tops picks from my visit to Lauterbrunnen.

Chalet Pirronet

SEE ON GOOGLE MAPS

This is an absolute classic viewpoint, and you will see it on Instagram or Google. It gives you a stunning view of the falls, with a wonderful path leading into the shot. It is popular, so you will likely have to wait your turn, but it is so easy to reach that you have to come here.

Lauterbrunnen Church (from the road corner or Tal Museum)

Another great view that is just downhill the path is the falls with the church a lot closer. You can take it from the curve of the road or a little further down at the Tal Museum. The exact view is up to you.

Time of day: I took this shot later in the day, but I recommend it earlier in the day when the light is on the falls.

Beim Bruggli Bridge and Road

For those with time to go for a stroll, you can head from the above church view down to Beim Bruggli for this stunning arched train bridge view. It makes for a great frame of the scene and includes beautiful local houses in the image – like the one above.

Below The Staubbach Falls (Staubbach Hütte)

Yes, you should definitely go to the Staubbach Falls and admire them up close. It is a popular spot and an easy 10minute walk from the train station.

Behind The Staubbach Falls

If you are feeling a little more adventurous and want a view from behind the falls, there is a 30 minute walk up and behind the falls themselves. The walk starts from the falls view I mentioned just above.

Some people love this walk, some find it a waste of time as the falls are obviously not really in view from this spot – but it is certainly unique and I found it worth the effort. You get to go through a small tunnel then via the galleries carved out of the rock wall to the side of the falls!

Views Of Lauterbrunnen Valley

You can also get up higher and get stunning views of the Lauterbrunnen Valley below you, displaying its jaw-dropping vertical rock walls (the ones Base Jumpers love to throw themselves off).

Train Ride To Wengen

If you want easy views of the Lauterbrunnen Valley, then catch the train up to Wengen. It is only a 12-minute train ride and conveniently leaves from the Lauterbrunnen station every 30 minutes

To get the best shots, it is best to sit on the right-hand side on the way up (and left on the way down).

Walking Above Wengen

There are a number of viewpoints above Wengen itself that are relatively easy to reach from the town. Wengen has a dedicated page on them if you are interested in getting an even better view of Lauterbrunnen and the Staubbach Falls from above.

The Weisse Lütschine River & Covered Bridge

Another enjoyable view is along the river through the center of Lauterbrunnen. Following the stream uphill and towards the end of the valley you will slowly leave the town and eventually come to the wooden covered bridge. Even just a short stroll along the river is worth the effort.

Grutschalp Terrace

Grutschalp to Murren Train

If you head up to Mürren or just want another easy view that is only 10 minutes from Lauterbrunnen, then head up to Grütschalp via the gondola. Instead of getting directly on the train to Mürren, go up and have a look at the stunning view and the train as it leaves the station, it makes for a magnificent view – and is a great spot for a bite to eat or drink too!

There is a 2 hours walk to Mürren from here as well which is a lovely way to get to Mürren if you have the time.

Mürren, Birg & Schilthorn

Of course, some of the best views of the distant peaks (Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau) as well as the far end of the valley below are from Mürren, Birg and Schilthorn.

That is why I recommend these places in my 1-day Ultimate Lauterbrunnen Itinerary – it is an epic day out and ticks all the boxes.
