The Journey

The road from Zurich until just after Chur is a fast, two-lane highway that is usually quite a pleasure to drive. The scenery along the Walensee leading to Chur is stunning with mountains and lakes almost the whole way.

A little after Chur the road becomes one lane and is windier and slower, but somehow more fun and scenic to drive. This is a less densely populated area of Switzerland and I always love driving this way into the Engadine region via the Juliapass.

Just keep in mind that this route can be busy on weekends and summer holidays, so check traffic before you leave to ensure you don’t run into any traffic jams.
