If you plan on spending a few days in the Jungfrau region, then the Jungfrau travel pass is a great option. It saves you a lot of money on various trips and transportation.
So, to find out whether the Jungfrau travel pass makes sense for you, let’s dive right in…
Table of Contents
What is the Jungfrau Travel Pass?
The Jungfrau Travel Pass is a pass that covers the vast majority of transportation in the Jungfrau region. This means unlimited free trips on all trains, buses, boats and cogwheel trains, and cable cars.
It does not fully cover the last portion of the Jungfraujoch from the Eigergletscher stop at the top of the Eiger Express cable car station. Instead, the pass includes a 40-50% reduction on this part of the Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe ticket.
Also, the Jungfrau pass does not cover seat reservations. Although, in most cases, you will not need a seat reservation anyway. I would only do that on busy long-distance trains within Switzerland.
The travel pass runs anywhere from 3-8 days. So, you can choose the pass length depending on how long you wish to stay and travel in the region.
Jungfrau Travel Pass Price
The price of the Jungfrau Travel Pass varies depending on how many days you wish to travel in the region. You can choose from a minimum of three days to just over a week. The longer you stay, the cheaper the travel pass gets.
Children between 6 and 15 pay 30CHF no matter how many days they use it. Children under 6 travel for free in Switzerland.

Jungfrau Travel Pass Use & Validation
Using your Jungfrau travel pass is quite simple. If you purchase it online, you specify the start date when you buy it. Be sure that the start date and Jungfrau pass validity correspond to your travel dates.
Then, when you are in the Jungfrau region, you show the pass to the ticket inspector.
If you purchase the pass when you are there, you must specify the date at the ticket counter.
Is the Jungfrau Travel Pass Worth It?
The Jungfrau Travel Pass is definitely worth it if you are in the region for more than one day and not just visiting Schilthorn or Jungfraujoch. It makes sense if you plan on going to any of the main attractions like First, Harder Kulm, Eiger Express, Schynigge Platte, Männlichen, and Kleine Scheidegg
Most of these cable cars or train trips are very expensive and not included in the standard Swiss Travel Pass. So, it makes sense to buy the Jungfrau Travel Pass even if you have it.
Let me give you a few examples of prices so you can see how much individual trips cost:
- Grindelwald Terminal to Eigergletscher (Eiger Express trip) – 64 CHF return
- Interlaken to Jungfraujoch – 211 CHF return
- Interlaken to Harder Kulm – 34 CHF return
Swiss Travel Pass or Jungfrau Travel Pass
The Swiss Travel Pass is great for general travel around Switzerland, especially longer distances and traveling around cities. Whereas, the Jungfrau Travel Pass is ideal for anyone spending lots of time in the Jungfrau region as it also covers mountain excursions and gives you a great deal on the Jungfraujoch.

Jungfrau Travel Pass vs Bernese Oberland Pass
The Jungfrau Travel Pass and the Bernese Oberland Regional Pass are very similar. The main difference between the passes is in the breadth of the Bernese Oberland Pass. It covers significantly more of Canton Bern and includes more free travel on mountain railways and cable cars. The Jungfrau Travel Pass is better for people who are only traveling around in the Jungfrau, Interlaken, and Grindelwald areas.
