Zermatt Train Station Luggage Storage

Stowing your bags in a luggage locker at Zermatt train station is a secure solution many a traveler has used. Honestly, I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve simply swiped my credit card and stashed my bags in their lockers, liberating me from the weight of all my bags around my neck. I highly recommend you try it too!

Luggage Lockers

Zermatt train station has dozens of lockers of various sizes where you can store your luggage for up to 72 hours. They will suit small to large-sized suitcases or backpacks. But if you have something even larger than their biggest (or something bulky that just won’t go in), then their left luggage counter might be a better option.

Payment in the newer style lockers in Zermatt can be done with coins, debit/credit card, mobile payment or the local system: Twint. And as they are quite modern you don’t get a key, but a QR code you use to open it again. Just don’t lose it, as you have to pay for a replacement to get it open again!

Left Luggage Service

The Zermatt train station has a left luggage service that is open during the day where you can also store your luggage. I would not say the lockers are unsafe, so only use this if you can’t fit it in a locker as you are more restricted by time.

  • Opening Hours: 7 days a week, 7 am – 7.30 pm
  • Cost: CHF 12 per piece per day
  • Restrictions: Maximum weight 25 kg (55 lbs)

Luggage Storage at Zermatt Hotels

You might also want to consider inquiring with your hotel about luggage storage services. Most hotels provide this service complimentary until your time of departure. The only condition, of course, is the presence of staff at the desk when you need to retrieve your bags. Thus, if your plan includes an early departure or a late return, opting for a locker at the train station could be your surest bet.
