Lauterbrunnen Train Station Luggage Storage

Leaving your bags in a luggage locker at an SBB train station is a safe method many travelers use. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve just dropped some coins into their lockers, freeing me to enjoy my day without any luggage concerns. And you should too!

Luggage Lockers

Lauterbrunnen train station only has 12 smaller lockers store your luggage for up to 72 hours. They might be big enough for small to medium-sized suitcases or backpacks. But if you have something larger, then their left luggage counter might be a better option.

Also, keep in mind, there are only 12 lockers. So, during busy periods, they might all be full.

Where Are The Luggage Lockers?

The luggage lockers are on Platform 1 at the end of the main Lauterbrunnen station building. You can see a red arrow in the picture above showing where they are. It took me a while to find them as there are not many of them and there are no signs indicating where they are (that I could find).

There are also luggage trolleys nearby if you need them to move your luggage to and from the trains.

Interlaken Ost has more options if you have larger luggage, so that’s an option if you are anywhere near there. And their left luggage counter is open slightly longer.

Grindelwald on the other hand, suffers from the same limitations as Lauterbrunnen, although they do have 20 lockers instead of just 12, so that’s a minor plus!

Left Luggage Service

SBB train stations often have a left luggage service that is open during the day and Lauterbrunnen is no exception. According to the SBB website, these are their opening times and rates.

  • Opening Hours: 7 days a week, 9 am – 5 pm
  • Cost: CHF 12 per piece per day
  • Restrictions: Maximum weight 25 kg (55 lbs)

Luggage Storage at Lauterbrunnen Hotels

You should also think about asking your hotel if they can store your bags. Many hotels offer this service for free until you’re ready to depart. The only catch is that there needs to be staff at the desk when you want to pick up your luggage. So, if you’re planning to leave extremely early or return quite late, then using a locker at the train station might be your safest option.
