Where To Buy Souvenirs In Interlaken? 12 Best Shops

where to buy souvenirs in Interlaken

Souvenir shopping is a must at a new destination, at least for me. I always buy at least a magnet, if I can’t find anything better to take home. If you’re the same and you’re looking for places to buy souvenirs in Interlaken, you’re in the right place. This detailed guide covers all the best souvenir shops in the Swiss city, but also other specialty stores!

Switzerland is best known for its tradition of woodcarving, cheese-making, watches, and chocolates. All of those items make for excellent souvenirs, especially if you can get your hands on something handmade and utterly local. But you can also find loads of basic souvenirs in various shops in Interlaken, and I’ve got you covered if you prefer shot glasses and snow globes.

From the best places to buy fondue sets to the most unique, specialty shops, here are the 12  best places to buy souvenirs in Interlaken!

Edelweiss Shop

Location: Bahnhofstrasse 10

The Edelweiss Shop is near the Interlaken West train station. It’s a good place if you’re looking for basic souvenirs, so magnets, hoodies, toys, etc. Everything at the Edelweiss Shop is Switzerland-themed, and the store is a good place to look for trinkets.

In addition to standard souvenirs, the Edelweiss Shop also sells Swiss-made goods. Victorinox Swiss Army Knives are available here, as are wristwatches and clocks manufactured by local brands. Cuckoo clocks and cowbells are also sold here.

If you’re looking to buy souvenirs for children, the Edelweiss Shop is a good place to look for gifts. They’ve got lots of plush toys and even tiny traditional Swiss outfits for kids, which look absolutely adorable. A Heidi outfit for a girl in your life sounds adorable!

Heimatwerk

Location: Hoheweg 115

Heimatwerk is a standard souvenir shop on the main street in Interlaken. It’s across the street from Hohematte Park and you will probably pass by the store often during casual walks around Interlaken.

This souvenir store is the best in Interlaken if you want handmade items. A handmade fondue set, wooden toys, and even leather goods are all available at this store. They also sell Victorinox knives and other cutlery, and I couldn’t resist picking up a Victorinox vegetable peeler. Talk about functional souvenirs!

The handmade painted fondue sets were my favorite items in the stores. They’re all absolutely gorgeous and can be paired with matching plates and mugs.

Heimatwerk also sells basic souvenirs such as magnets, keychains, and printed t-shirts. But they don’t have a huge variety of these and are much more focused on local, handmade items.

Top of Europe Flagship Store

Location: Hoheweg 35

Situated on the ground floor of Hotel Metropole, the Top of Europe Flagship Store is one of the best places for Swiss souvenirs if you’re not looking for cheap items. It’s one of the best-stocked souvenir stores, at least in terms of the variety of local Swiss brands.

You can also buy tickets for Jungfraujoch here, which make for excellent souvenirs to remind you of one of the best trips of your life. But if you’re looking for something more traditional, you’ll find a myriad of Swiss Army Knives here, Swiss chocolates, postcards, wooden toys, cowbells, and much more.

The store also carries the more basic souvenirs, such as shot glasses with the Swiss cross, magnets, t-shirts, hoodies, tote bags, etc. And you can also find Jungfraujoch-themed souvenirs at the store.

The one thing to note is that the Top of Europe store is pricier than other, smaller souvenir shops in Interlaken. If you’re looking for specific souvenirs that only this shop carries then it’s fine, but if you just want something basic like a magnet or a keychain, you’re better off shopping at the smaller, family-owned stores.

Wyss Souvenirs

Location: Hoheweg 197

Wyss Souvenirs is a vast shop on Hoheweg, Interlaken’s main street. They’ve got a good mix of classic souvenirs (caps, shot glasses, snowglobes, etc.) and unique Swiss items (cuckoo clocks, cowbells, wooden toys). Whether you’re looking for a basic trinket or a traditional Swiss item, there are loads of options here.

The collection of cuckoo clocks at Wyss Souvenirs is impressive, and I reckon this is the best place in Interlaken if you’re specifically looking for those. The options range from tiny clocks that are under 50 CHF, to extravagant pieces that will set you back more than 500 CHF.

This shop also carries Victorinox and Wenger, as well as a few other Swiss brands. They’ve got wristwatches, jewelry, clothes, and pretty much anything else that could be considered a souvenir, chocolates included!

The one thing Wyss Souvenirs is missing to be the ultimate Swiss souvenir shop is cheese. If only you could buy some Grueyres here, you wouldn’t have to look elsewhere for anything.

Lindt Chocolate Shop Interlaken

Location: Hoheweg 35

Lindt has been manufacturing chocolates since 1845. One of the brand’s stores is always a safe bet for delicious chocolates, which are some of the best souvenirs you can bring home from Switzerland.

Pralines, chocolate bars, truffles, and even chocolate spreads are all available here, as well as a bunch of other chocolates. If you want to get gifts for a sweet tooth or just want to have some delicious Swiss chocolates to eat back home, the Lindt store is one of the best in Interlaken.

It’s in Hotel Metropole and the entrance is from the inside of the hotel.

Migros & Coop

Migros Location: Rugenparkstrasse

Coop Location: Marktgasse 1 (other locations available)

Migros and Coop are two supermarket chains in Switzerland where you can find some souvenirs for an affordable price. The selection won’t be nearly as varied as in the specialized shops, but if you’re in a rush and you want a cheap keychain, you’ll find one in either shop.

Want To Save This For Later?

We'll email this post to you, so you can come back to it later!

The supermarkets are also good places for shopping if your idea of a Swiss souvenir is something perishable. You’ll find excellent Swiss cheese, chocolates, and cured meats here, and they’ll all be reasonably priced.

I also recommend looking for fondue sets in the supermarkets, if that’s something you’d like to buy. It’s significantly cheaper to buy one in a supermarket; sure, it won’t have a very interesting design, but it does the job just as well.

Swiss Mountain Market

Location: Hoheweg 133

The Swiss Mountain Market is an excellent store with handmade goods. If your idea of souvenirs includes pottery, knitted items, and wooden toys, you’ll love this shop. It also sells locally-made cosmetics from natural ingredients, dried fruits, spices, and chocolates.

Browse the online shop to see the types of souvenirs this store sells, and see if there’s anything you like. I’m a big fan of all the wooden crafts, especially the unique pepper grinders and wine racks. The crocheted toys are also adorable and make for excellent gifts.

The shop is on Hoheweg, so it’s impossible to miss during a casual stroll through Interlaken. Also, it’s worth noting that you won’t find basic souvenirs here; I didn’t see any magnets or keychains the last time I was here.

Otto’s Interlaken

Location: Untere Bonigstrasse 25

Otto’s is a discount store and the best place for souvenir shopping if you’re on a tighter budget. You won’t find many trinkets here (magnets, keychains, etc) but you can find loads of food, clothing, shoes, utensils, and even furniture for very little money.

Think Swiss chocolates, cheese, wine, and cheap fondue sets. For 35 CHF you can get a decent fondue set, and for around 40 CHF you can buy an electric fondue pot! You’ll also find dirt-cheap raclette toasters here, as well as loads of other convenient kitchen gadgets and utensils.

And in case you need some sports gear while you’re Interlaken, Otto’s has the best prices. You can even find discounted goods from Mammut and similar brands here, so it’s definitely worth stopping by. A cheap pair of Salomon shoes that you’ll wear for years to come makes for a better souvenir from Switzerland than a magnet or an overpriced tote bag.

Chäs Fritz GmbH

Location: Jungfraustrasse 46

Chäs Fritz is a cheese shop near Hohematte Park in Interlaken. It’s the place for my kind of souvenir shopping, which includes some of the best Swiss delicacies you can get your hands on.

Here’s the thing, if you’re going to buy a fondue set or a raclette toaster, you need to buy some cheese for it. And there’s no better cheese for either dish than authentic Swiss cheese, produced specifically for fondue or raclette.

So, head to Chäs Fritz to buy pre-mixed fondue packets, slices of raclette cheese, or any other type of Swiss cheese you can think of. The shop also sells other foods that pair well with fondue and cheese, but also some classic souvenirs. You can even buy fondue pots and raclette toasters here, but they will be more expensive than those at Migros, Coop, or even Otto’s.

Marko Market

Location: Marktgasse 2

Marko Market is a locally owned souvenir shop in the center of Interlaken. If you appreciate friendly and helpful staff at shops, this is the best store in town. Marko, the owner, works the till, and he is always available to help customers find what they’re looking for.

He’ll often offer discounts to customers who purchase a bunch of items and really goes above and beyond for everyone who enters the shop. In terms of the shopping experience, Marko Market is one of my favorite souvenir stores in Interlaken.

As for the souvenirs available at the shop, you’ll find all sorts of items. Pins, pens, magnets, keychains, and even cuckoo clock baubles are available here, as well as a bunch of items from Victorinox.

Also, this is a proper store and not just a souvenir shop, so you can also buy food and drinks here. Swiss chocolates are included, but also some international snacks that you might not find elsewhere in Interlaken.

Another thing to note is that Marko Market is one of the cheapest places for souvenir shopping in Interlaken, even without the discount that the owner often gives customers.

The Mad Cow

Location: Spielmatte 1

The Mad Cow is a specialty store in Interlaken and a great place for shopping if you’re looking for unique items. Most items at the store are things you’d buy for the home, decorations, artwork, and even furniture.

If you want to get a painting by a local artist from Interlaken, the Mad Cow is the place to be. It’s also the best destination if you want some unique dining table chairs with gorgeous paintings. The shop also sells all sorts of home decorations, and it’s truly one of the most special places in Interlaken.

But if you want classic souvenirs, you won’t find any here. The Mad Cow Shop is in Unterseen, on the tiny island between it and Interlaken.

Albert Schild AG

Location: Bahnhofstrasse 19

Albert Schild AG is one of my favorite shops in Interlaken, but that’s got nothing to do with souvenirs. It’s because this is one of the few places in town where you can buy card games and board games.

In addition to the various board games, this shop specializes in woodcarving. Wooden figurines and various toys are available at the store, and they’re all absolutely stunning. They’re not cheap in any sense of the word, but the level of detail on the carvings is astounding.

This shop also sells Panorama cheese knives, which I love. The knives are serrated to replicate the shapes of famous Swiss mountains, and they look absolutely stunning. They’re pricey knives but worth it if you want a unique and functional souvenir. Frankly, I’m not sure if I would dare use such a stunning knife, but I’d want to display it and show it off to everyone who visits for sure.

Albert Schild AG shop also sells posters, postcards, purses, and even scooters. For fun, handmade souvenirs, this is one of the best destinations in Interlaken.
