Jungfraujoch & Swiss Travel Pass

Jungfraujoch

Do you have the Swiss Travel Pass and want to head up to the Top of Europe – Jungfraujoch? This page has all the information you need.

Is Jungfraujoch Included in the Swiss Travel Pass?

No, the Swiss Travel Pass does not include a trip to the Jungfraujoch railway station. You do, however, get a significant discount on travel to the Top of Europe.

The Swiss Travel Pass includes free travel to both Grindelwald and Wengen. So, you only have to pay for the ticket to Jungfraujoch from there. Normally you will receive around a 25% discount on a trip to the Jungfraujoch from either Wengen or Grindelwald.

If you travel from further afield, the discount will appear greater than 25% because the ticket price includes the “free” portion to those two towns.

  1. Can you please advise me which of the following trips are covered by the Swiss Travel Pass? I think that it covers all but the Grindelwald to Jungfraujoch trip. We are travelling in May. If so, how much would we need to pay in addition for this trip

  2. Ashley:
My wife and I are living in Germany until December 2025. We are retired and just want to do sightseeing. Not too interested in skiing and hiking, but only to see the magnificence of the Swiss alps “from a distance”.

From 5 May through 10 May we are planning a round trip from Frankfurt to Basel to Bern to Interlaken to Grindelwald to Zermatt to Andermatt to Fluelen, to Luzern (by ferry) to Zurich to Basel to Frankfurt.

We have the SBB app and are planning our travel using the train schedules made available on the app. We have a Deutschlandticket and know how to use it here in Germany, which covers all regional travel, including buses, trains, subways, etc. We assume the Swiss travel pass is similar. However, we have some questions.

    1. Does the train schedule from Interlaken Ost to Grindelwald Terminal to Eigergletscher to Jungfraujoch the same as the Jungfraujoch roundtrip ticket that is not covered by the Swiss Travel pass?

    2. Do you suggest the Gornergrat in Zermatt? I have been to Zermatt and think we can observe the majesty of the Matterhorn simply by walking around the city, and up a few short trails. Do you think we should spend the extra money and take the Gornergrat?

    3. Does the Swiss Travel Pass cover the ferry from Fluelen to Luzern?

    4. I assume the Swiss Travel Pass provides a discount from Kriens to Pilatus.

It appears as if travel between each city is covered by the Swiss Travel Pass except perhaps the ferry from Fluelen to Luzern.

Thank you for your kind consideration.
